Barcelona, time to leave

Kaum zu fassen wie schnell eine knappe 

Woche vergehen kann. Es ist so viel passiert, dass ich Schwierigkeiten habe es zusammen zu fassen. 

Mit dem gestrigen Freitag kamen wir zu dem eigentlichen event für den wir eingeladen wurden. Von 13 - 15 Uhr rockten wir also unsere Show im PoloClub de Barcelona für den Tag der Deutschen Einheit. Mit diversen Reden vom Gerneral Konsul, dem katalanischen Innenminister, Vertretern des Deutschen Bundestages und mehr, stellte das Programm in diesem Jahr sicherlich "mal etwas anderes dar" und obwohl deutlich zu merken war, dass Hip Hop für die meisten Anwesenden kein Interessengebiet darstellt war das Feedback gut und wir hatten Spaß.

Ein paar von uns hatten anschließend nochmal die Möglichkeit die Einrichtung und Jugendlichen von Joves Teb zu besuchen (mit denen wir bereits auftraten)  um uns die beeindruckende Arbeit dort genauer anzugucken und Fragen zu stellen. Wir sind uns sicher, dass wir im Kontakt bleiben werden. Wer weiß was man zusammen noch alles auf die Beine stellen kann.....

Gestern Abend hatten wir schließlich unser Abschiedsessen mit anschließendem Trip zum Beach wo wir dann mal gleich noch einen Video aufgenommen haben der dann hoffentlich auch bald hier zu sehen sein wird.

Nun sind alle noch irgendwo unterwegs um letzte Eindrücke zu sammeln oder zum Beach wo man bei gefühlten 30 Grad noch wunderbar Baden kann. 

Wir möchten an dieser Stelle unseren Dank an ein paar Leute aussprechen ohne die das alles hier sehr schwer gewesen wäre.

An erster Stelle Herr Thietmar Bachmann vom Deutschen Konsulat in Barcelona der uns eingeladen hat. Danke für ihre Hilfe, ihr Engagement und auch den Mut neue Wege zu gehen. Alle Leute vom Goethe Institut die sich so wunderbar um uns gekümmert haben....vor allem Alina Goldbach die wie ein Teil der Gruppe geworden ist (du wirst uns fehlen). Danke auch an die Mitarbeiter vom Deutschen Konsulat die seit Monaten mit dem GI an unserem Programm geschraubt haben. Danke an all die tollen Schulen an denen wir waren und die zahlreichen Schüler die immer super mitgemacht haben. An das Projekt Joves Teb und den tollen Jugendlichen die darin involviert sind.

Wir müssen gehen.....aber wir sehen uns wieder

It is hard to believe how quickly a week can go by. So much has happened that I am having a hard time summing it up.

Yesterday  we actually arrived at the event for which we had been invited. From 1-3 pm we rocked the mic at the Polo Club de Barcelona to celebrate German reunification day.  Together with speeches by the German Consul General, the Catalonian Minister of the Interior and Representatives from the German Parlament, this years program was certainly "a bit different" than previously. Even though it was evident that not everyone in attendance had been particularly fond of Hip Hop thus far, the feedback was positive and we had fun.

Following this a few of us had the opportunity to visit the project Joves Teb and meet the young talents whom we were blessed to perform with previously again. Here we were able to find out more about the incredible work that is being conducted here. We have already decided to stay in touch. Who knows what we might come up with.

Tomorrow evening it was time for our farewell dinner after which we headed to the beach where we shot a music video that will hopefully be available here in the very near future.

Now everyone is out and about to gather last impressions or head to the beach where the conditions are perfect for swimming.

We'd like to express our gratitude to a few people without whom this entire stay would have been much more difficult. first of all Thietmar Bachmann of the German Consulate who invited us. Thanks for all of your help, your engagement and the courage to explore  new paths as well. To all the people from the Goethe Institut who took such good care of us...especially Alina Goldbach who has become like part of the group and who we will miss very much. Thanks to the staff of the German Consulate who, together with staff from the German Consulate, have been  busy working on our groups itinerary for months, thanks to all of the schools where we were and their incredible students who participated so well, thanks to the project Joves Teb and all of its awesome young people......

We have to go.....but we shall see each other again

GangwayBeatz Barca Tour Continues.....

Jedes Mal wenn wir auf Reisen sind nehmen wir uns fest vor viele Blog Einträge zu verfassen und jedes Mal schaffen wir es nicht weil der Tag tatsächlich kurz ist......

Am heutigen 4 Tag hat die Gruppe zum ersten mal Freizeit am Nachmittag und während sie sich wahrscheinlich bereits in der Sonne rekeln musste ich mich auf den Weg machen um funktionierendes WLAN zu finden (Starbucks we love you) um diese Zeilen zu verfassen........Gut, dass ich so besonders gut bezahlt werde L........Bei sonnigen 25 Grad muss ich darauf hinweisen, dass ich mich hier auf das nötigste beschränke aber seid getrost, ein detaillierter Reisebericht soll folgen.

Nach einem echten Hammer Konzert und Workshop vor der Schülerschaft der Europa Schule in Sant Cugat del Valle´s ging es gestern zurück zur Wohnung zwecks Frisch Machung (außer yours truly der direkt zum Konzert Ort fahren musste L). Danach ging es zum nächsten Konzert mit dem Goethe Institut bei der Casal del Barri zusammen mit Jugendlichen aus Barcelona vom Projekt „Joves Teb“. Und was für ein Abend es wurde. Zusammen haben die jungen Künstler das Haus gerockt und ich denke alle Anwesenden hatten großen Spaß.

Nach einer Nacht die erwartungsgemäß wieder Mal kurz ausfiel ging es heute Morgen dann gleich in Richtung Avda. Jacinto Esteva Fontanet zur Deutschen Schule wo wir den nächsten Auftritt hinlegten (vor vollem Haus). Im Anschluss gab es einen Workshop mit den 7 klässlern.

Morgen dann der Hauptevent. Von 13 bis 15 Uhr treten wir im Real Club de Polo de Barcelona für das Deutsche Konsulat zum „Tag der Deutschen Einheit“ auf. Unter den angemeldeten Gästen unter anderem der „katalanische Innenminister“. Wir freuen uns drauf und hoffen auf rege Beteiligung des Publikums an der unangemeldet anschließenden Freestyle Cypher.......:)

Every time we travel we are determined to write lots of blog entries and every time we fail because the day is indeed short. On this 4th day the group finally has some free time and while they are probably laying in the sun as we speak i had to go search for wifi (Starbucks we love you) in order to write these words. It’  a good things i get paid so well L......@ a sunny 25 degrees i have to mention that i am going to keep this entry to bare essentials but don’t be disappointed, a detailed travel report shall follow.

After what turned out to be an awesome workshop in front of the entire student body of the European School yesterday in Sant Cugat del Valle´s the group returned to our apartment to „freshen up“ (except for yours truly who had to go directly to the evening concert venue). The concert @ Casal del Barri was organized by the Goethe Institut and it was our first opportunity to perform together with young artists from Barcelona from the project „Joves Teb“. And what an eve. It turned out to be....

After a night which turned out too short yet again it was on to Avda. Jacinto Esteva Fontanet where the German School is located. Here we rocked another show in front of a very large crowd. After the concert we conducted a workshop with 7th grade students.

Tomorrow we’ll perform for our main event. From 1 -3 pm we’ll be on stage for the German Consulat for „German Reunification day“ at the Real Club de Polo de Barcelona. One of the guests.....The Catalan Minister of the Interior. We are very much looking forward to the crowd’s participation at the unscheduled freestlyle session immediately following the concert :)

Barcelona erste Schulworkshops

Ich muss meinen heutigen kurzen Beitrag damit beginnen, dass es in Barcelona alles andere als einfach ist sich eine Pre Paid Sim Karte zu klären was, dass "mobile Bloggen" selbst für den diszipliniertest unter uns zu einer echten Herausforderung macht. Somit bitte ich evtl Schreibfehler darauf zurück zu führen, dass ich gerade sehr spät in einem echt lauten Irischen Pub sitze um diese Zeilen noch schnell online zu stellen.

Wie gestern bereits angekündigt ging es heute ab nach Santa Maria de Palautordera zur Schule. Die knapp 70 Schüler die an unserem Workshop teilnahmen haben super mitgemacht und es war eine echte Party. Den dazu gehörigen Trailer stelle ich gerade auf unsere Facebook Seite und ich denke die Bilder sprechen für sich....

Morgen ist wieder ein voller Tag. Morgens gehen wir an die Europa Schule zum Workshoppen mit anschließender Show vor versammelter Schülerschaft. Danach ab zum Aufbau und ab 19 Uhr rocken wir die erste große Show für das Goethe Institut. Ich melde mich Morgen mit mehr Info die bzgl.....

I have to start today´s very shot brief by pointing out that it is a true hassle trying to get a sim card in Barcelona, which means that mobile blogging is a real challenge even for the most committed amongst us. Thus i would like to ask everyone to consider the fact that i am currently sitting in a very loud Irish pub at a late hour trying to get this online.

As mentioned yesterday we were on our way to the local High School @ Santa Maria de Palautordera.The 70 plus students participating in our workshop were a pleasure to work with and it turned out to be a real party. I am currently posting the trailer to facebook and the pics speak for themselves.

Tomorrow is another busy day. First we´ll be @ the European School for another workshop and performance. @ 7 pm we´ll be rocking our first big show for the Goethe Institut. I´ll get back @ cha with more info from the road tomorrow......

Barcelona day one

Barlona day one:

Erstmal die guten Neuigkeiten. Alle haben es rechtzeitig zum Flughafen geschafft. So sitzen wir derzeit auf 35000 Fuß mit Kurs auf Barcelona. Da wir relativ spät ankommen und uns einrichten müssen, Einkäufen, Essen, Proben und definitiv auch noch zum Strand gehen müssen wird es heute keine Neuigkeiten mehr geben. Wenn alles planmäßig verläuft werden wir es heute Abend auch noch zu Barcelona's "dopest" Freestyle Session schaffen. 

Morgen geht das Programm los. Um 10:30 morgens geht es mit zwei Bussen nach   Passeig dels Esports ,Santa Maria de Palautordera zum Schüler-Workshop an der IES Reguissol mit anschließender Performance. Das erste Konzert mit geladenen Gästen dann am Mittwoch aber mehr dazu später....

Okay, so first the good news. Everyone made it to the airport on time so that we are currently sitting @ 35000 feet in route to Barcelona. Because we'll be arriving kind of late and because we still have to take care of getting situated, shopping, eating, rehearsing and without a doubt....a quick trip to the beach, I doubt there will be any more news to report tonight. We will however, take a quick trip to Barelona's Monday night freestyle session if things fall in place.

Tomorrow our itinerary begins. In the am well be headed to Passeig dels Esports,Santa Maria de Palautordera for a school workshop @ IES Reguissol with a performance at the end. Our first concert for invited guests will be on Wednesday but more on that later.
