Barca tour, first show/workshop

Barca Tour Day 2:

Okay, it´s official. Nach einer guten Runde Schlaf sind wir in Barcelona angekommen. Allerdings, so scheint es, in der Regenzeit.....:( Wir hoffen die Sonne kommt dann in den nächsten Tagen auch noch irgendwann dazu. 

Heute also waren die ersten zwei Shows mit darauf folgendem Workshop vor knapp 250 Schülern. Wir mussten früh aufbrechen um uns auf in die INS Vicenc Plantada (internationale Schule) außerhalb von Barcelona zu machen. Wegen eines Rohrbruches der Teile der Schule zeitweise unter Wasser setzte lief zunächst alles nicht so ganz nach Plan. Nach "Wischaktionen" und darauf folgendem "Schnellaufbau" des Equipments ging die gut besuchte Show dann aber doch noch pünktlich los. 

Anschließend blieben die Schüler des Deutsch Unterrichts noch bei uns um in drei verschiedenen Gruppen Rap, Beat und Breakdance Workshops mitzumachen.

Heute Nachmittag nun ein bisschen ausruhen und "Barca gucken" und heute Abend dann zur "What the Funk" Jazz/Rap Open Mic session.

Okay, it´s official. After a good nights sleep we have arrived in Barcelona. Unfortunately, so it seems, within the raining season.......:( We hope that the sun will come around to hang with us within these next days.

Today we rocked our first two shows @ the INS Vicenc Plantada (international School) in front of some 250 students. Afterwards we conducted workshops with some of them. Because of a busted pipe that rendered parts of the school "under water" for some time things didn´t go according to plan initially. After getting "busy with mobs" followed by a hurried equipment set up, the show started pretty much on time in the end though.

After the first show the "German students" stayed behind and were able to choose one of three workshops (Beat making, Break Dance and of course Rap).

Now it´s time to chill just a little and tonight it´s off to the "What the Funk" freestyle session.......

Also heute geht die zweite Gangwaybeatz "Barca Tour" los., diesmal zusammen mit Jugendlichen aus NYC von unserem transatlantischen Jugendaustausch Projekt "BronxBerlinConnection". Mit insg. 10 Leuten machen wir uns in den kommenden Wochen auf den Weg um in diversen Schulen quer durch die Stadt sowie außerhalb von Barcelona Shows zu rocken und Workshops zu geben. Hip Hop Workshops baby......Die Tänzer werden mit Schülern Steps einüben, der Produzent in der Gruppe bringt seinen MPC mit um mit Schülern live und vor Ort Beats zu basteln, bzw. wird er Ihnen ein paar grundlegende Dinge zeigen damit sie selbst damit anfangen können und die Rapper werden mit Schülern "Spitten" und Schreiben. Außerdem gibt die Gruppe zwei Konzerte zu denen wir später natürlich mehr Info posten. In der Zeit die bleibt werden wir uns natürlich Barcelona in ihrer ganzen Schönheit anschauen. 

Soweit so gut. Dies erstmal als ein kleines update vom Air Berlin Flieger der dann auch bald landen wird. Deswegen sollte mich vorerst knapp fassen.......

So, today we are starting our second GangwayBeatz Barcelona Tour. With 10 people we´ll be visiting schools throughout as well as outside of the city to rock shows and to conduct workshops. Hip Hop workshops baby.......Together with students the dancers will be working on some basic steps, the producer in the group brought his MPC in order to show students some of the basics of "beat making" and the Emcees in the group will "spit" and write with the students as well. In addition the group will rock two shows about which we´ll post more information later in the week. We will use  the time that remains to experience Barcelona in all of its beauty. 

So far so good. This was just a quick update from aboard our Air Berlin flight which is about to land. Thus i should keep it short for the time being........

Und es ist wieder soweit......

Am 28 April gehen junge Leute aus Berlin und New York City auf Tour in Barcelona um vor Ort Schulworkshops zu leiten und Bühnen zu rocken. Neben den bereits bestehenden internationalen Austauschnetzwerken zwischen Berlin und New York City und Paris fahren wir nun bereits zum zweiten Mal nach Barcelona. Und so hoffen wir im kommenden Jahr ebenfalls eine Delegation aus Barcelona in Berlin begrüßen zu dürfen.

Zum zweiten Mal wurde unsere Tour durch das Deutsche Konsulat und das Goethe Institut in Barcelona ermöglicht.

Wir werden den Blog tägl. updaten und würden uns freuen wenn ihr euch hier auf dem laufenden haltet.

Once again it´s on.....

On April 28 young people from Berlin and NYC will be going on tour in Barcelona in order to lead school workshops and to „burn up mics“ all over town. Besides those international youth networks already in existence (Berlin – NYC, Paris) we are going to Barcelona for the second time this year and we hope to be able to host a group from Barcelona in Berlin next year.

For the second time our tour has been made possible by the German Consulate and the Goethe Institut in Barcelona.

We´ll update the blog daily for anyone who would like to stay up to date.
